The Banff Centre is a beautiful university campus located in the middle of the Canadian Rockies. This centre creates an intersection of arts and ideas by supporting multidimensional artists for the international stage in a rich learning environment. Grammy nominated composer-pianist, Vijay Iyer, Program Director of the 'The Banff International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music' (between May and June, 2014) has invited me as a guest faculty for this workshop. Vijay Iyer is an eminent Professor at the Department of Music, Harvard University. He is also the Winner of the Prestigious 2013 US MacArthur Fellowship.
In this forum, program participants gather from around the world to share, develop and challenge their own ideas and abilities. The stellar faculty includes world-renowned musicians, innovators, leaders and thinkers, who will present master classes, lectures, workshops, informal sessions and collaborative concerts. I will be sharing key improvisational concepts of Carnatic music with Jazz music students and the eminent faculty. It is a great honor and I am very excited to be part of this program.
