Akademi award for Aruna Sairam, Prasanna Ramaswamy

• The General Council of the Akademi has selected thirty eight (38) artistes (2 joint awards) from the fields of music, dance, theatre and puppetry for the Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards (Akademi Puraskar) for the year 2013.

  Among them are two from the Mylapore neighbourhood - Carnatic vocalist Aruna Sairam and theatre personality Prasanna Ramaswamy (seen in the photo). These prestigious awards recognise the contributions of India’s artistes at the highest level.
